Welcome to the website of the Chandos Singers of Bath

The Chandos Singers, a chorus of about 20 singers, generally concentrates on works both sacred and secular which by the time of the performance have not become over-performed by other choral groups. Where possible, the composer’s first version is used.

The Chandos Singers gave its first concert for two years in August 2021, led by its conductor since 2000, Dr Malcolm Hill.

Very sadly, Malcolm died after a long illness on 19th November 2021.

We will be commemorating Malcolm’s life, and what he did for Chandos, at Prior Park on Sunday 17th July 2022; more information will be found at Malcolm Hill Memorial Concert.

The Chandos Singers is now directed by Rupert Bevan.

Our most recent performance was on Sunday 27th March 2022 in St Mary’s Church, Limpley Stoke. The programme included Jephte by Giacomo Carissimi (1605-1674), a dramatic Old Testament story of love and sacrifice.

Our next concert will be on Sunday 26th June 2022 in Magdalen Chapel, Holloway, Bath, at 3.30pm, when we will be performing Music for a Summer Afternoon.

We are looking for extra singers in all parts. We rehearse in the Magdalen Chapel, Holloway, Bath BA2 4PX on Fridays at 7.45pm. If you are interested, please contact mandy.shaw@iperimeter.co.uk.

Information on our past activities will be found at Past Concerts, Past Free Performances, and Works Performed.
